Does EZPERDIEM COM use the special rate for transportation workers?

Yes. EZPERDIEM.COM calculates your meal allowance using two different methods simultaneously and displays the highest. If the city-by-city method is the highest (true about 90% of the time) then only the city-by-city calculations are displayed. If the special rate for transportation workers is higher, then you see both calculation methods displayed simultaneously. This saves you hours and hours of work and provides you with the highest accurate set of calculations that pilots and flight attendants can get.

For your own information, the special rate for transportation workers for tax year 2007 is $52 for CONUS and $58 for OCONUS. The IRS requires that you use on method for the entire set of calculations, so you are not allowed to alternated between these special rates and the locality rates in the same set of meal expense calculations. That is why it is necessary to perform two individual sets of per diem calculations to determine a pilot or flight attendant's per diem deduction.
