Are there maximum tax deductible limits for certain IRS Form expenses?
IRS Form 2106 is the form used to tally the tax deductible expenses incurred by an employee. It is important to realize that in some cases, an excessively high number on IRS Form 2106 might trigger an audit.
While there are not really limits on what you can deduct for specific items like dry cleaning, shoe shines, cell phone bills, etc, there is the possibility that IRS red flags might occur if certain thresholds on the 2106 form are exceeded. It is important to look at IRS Form 2106 to see why this is. Specific expenses are not listed on IRS Form 2106. Assume for example that you decided to put $5000 in shoe shines as a deduction. The IRS does not see that you spent $5000 in shoe shines, but they do see that box 3A on IRS Form 2106 seems high and if you get audited, they will see the reason is that you claimed $5000 for shoe shines.
